MEDIUMS & TECHNIQUES

I paint traditional with paint and brush...

And I also paint digital...

I use Corel Painter 11 with  Wacom pen & tablet like you see below. The pen replaces the brushes  and the colors are digital.  It is actual painting, not to be confused with "digital manipulations" as done with various photoshop filters. See video clip below...

I started digital painting in addition to traditional when I received many children's book and character design assignements. I find painting directly into the computer achieves higher image qualily fit for printing, than first painting on paper/canvas and then having to scan or photograph the artwork. It also makes it easier and is more efficient when several revisions are required, which is often the case when doing commissioned illustration work or character development.

I generally have several digital  paintings in progress on the computer, and several traditional painting on my easles. I would not miss one or the or the other - I LOVE both!
